Overview:
Can you translate consumer data into insights and a compelling story? Do you speak retail and digital? Do you daydream in Powerpoint? We are looking for a key contributor to join our Industry Strategy and Insights group (temporary; six months). This team sits at the intersection of consumer trends, digital disruption, and market research, using quantitative and qualitative data to inspire the Salesforce audience. We live within the Salesforce Industries team, focusing on retail & consumer goods.
This is an individual contributor role and requires an individual who is passionate about brick-and-mortar and ecommerce shopping, understands data and metrics, and wields excellent writing and editing skills.

Role Description:
The Marketing Associate, Industry Insights will combine her/his skills of marketing strategy and trend analysis to develop market-facing content. She/he will work under the guidance of an Industry Insights Senior Manager to create unique, insightful digital assets with fresh, data-driven insights at the center. Specific tasks may include:
  • Conduct research on industry subsets (for example, ecommerce sites in the luxury apparel vertical) and craft educational presentations based on that research
  • Interpret existing Salesforce data (both qualitative and quantitative) to write and edit content for blog posts, videos, and web-based content
  • Keep the pulse of the industry by monitoring trends and retailer stories — and communicate what you've learned to Industry Insights team members
  • Assist in the development of new consumer and industry research reports
  • Be open to dipping your toes into other industries beyond retail and ecommerce, if needed
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-5 years in content marketing or digital marketing
  • Preferred, but not required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or English
  • Experience working and collaborating remotely using tools like Google Hangouts
  • Strong understanding of today's retail, ecommerce, & consumer goods landscape
  • Demonstrated comfort crafting content (from slides to bylined articles) that earns the attention of an executive audience
  • Demonstrated ability to follow a brand's style guide for voice and tone — plus attention to detail for copyediting and grammar
  • Ability to absorb information and synthesize what's most meaningful into eye-catching headlines
  • Proficiency in PPTX and the Google suite of products (Gmail, Gdocs, etc.)
  • Ability to successfully drive slide deck creation and written content projects with minimal hand-holding
  • Self-motivated, can-do attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication skills, with natural tendency to update a distributed team with project status or questions
  • Bonus skill: Experience interpreting information from business intelligence (BI) tools such as Salesforce Wave or Tableau, or from surveys.
